Gladys Boss is a seasoned legal expert and prominent political leader currently serving as the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and Woman Representative for Uasin Gishu County.

Gladys has held key positions in Kenya’s legal and public service sectors in her career that spans legal practice, judicial administration, and legislative leadership.

Educational Background of Boss Gladys

Boss Gladys has a strong academic foundation in law and strategic management.

Boss Gladys Jepkosgei began her education at Hill School, where she earned the Certificate of Primary Education.

She proceeded to Loreto Matunda, attaining the Kenya Certificate of Education.

In 1986, she joined Moi Girls Eldoret and completed her Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education in 1987.

She then enrolled at the University of Nairobi in 1988 and went om to graduate in 1991 with a Bachelor of Laws degree.

Between 1991 and 1992, she attended the Kenya School of Law, where she obtained a Diploma in Law.

In 1993, she furthered her legal studies at the University of Cape Town, completing a Master of Laws in 1994.

She later advanced her academic qualifications by pursuing a Master of Business Administration at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology from 2008 to 2009.

Career life

Gladys began her professional journey in 1994 as an International Waters Consultant at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

She later practised law with Kilonzo & Company Advocates before founding Boss & Company Advocates.

Between 1997 and 2002, she was a Lecturer in Law at the University of Nairobi, teaching subjects such as Civil Procedure and Child Law.

In 2001, she became Assistant Editor at Kenya Law Reports and later served as CEO and Editor at the National Council for Law Reporting from 2003 to 2009.

During her tenure, she led the digitisation of Kenya’s legal resources.

From 2009 to 2011, she worked as Deputy Chief Electoral Officer at the Interim Independent Electoral Commission (IIEC), overseeing Kenya’s first biometric voter registration.

In 2011, she was appointed Chief Registrar of the Judiciary, a role she held until 2013.

In politics, she was elected Uasin Gishu Woman Representative in 2017 and re-elected in 2022. She currently serves as the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.

Family information

Gladys Boss was born on 27 May 1974 in Uasin Gishu County.

She is the second of five siblings and was previously married to Sam Shollei.

She is a mother of four children.
