Jane Theuri recently captured national attention after impressively articulating her views during the Jukwaa la Usalama forum in Nairobi County.
Speaking before Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, Theuri boldly called on the government to ensure greater inclusion of persons with disabilities across all sectors of public service.
She pointed out that differently-abled individuals are not only capable but also highly qualified professionals, whose expertise should not be overlooked.
According to Theuri, their inclusion is not just a matter of equity but a step toward building a more competent and representative workforce.
But who is Jane Theuri?
Jane Theuri is a Senior Assistant County Commissioner and a dynamic public servant with over nine years of experience in government administration.
She currently serves under the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, where she has played a critical role in coordinating national projects, resolving conflicts, managing crises, and leading peace-building efforts across the country.
Her work also extends into counter-terrorism initiatives and disaster mitigation, underscoring her commitment to national stability and security.
Education Background
Jane Theuri holds a Master of Science degree in African Studies from the University of Edinburgh, completed in 2020.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations and Mass Communication from St. Paul’s University in 2013.
In addition to her academic qualifications, Jane has pursued advanced training in public service.
She completed the Senior Management Course at the Kenya School of Government in 2023 and is currently undertaking a Diploma in Public Administration at the same institution.

Public Service Career
Jane’s early career includes an internship in the Human Resources department at Absa Bank Kenya (2014–2015), where she supported recruitment processes, scheduled interviews, and conducted candidate screenings.
She also volunteered with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) as a Public Relations Assistant, helping to promote disability rights and support public awareness campaigns.
Jane began her public service journey in September 2015 as an Assistant County Commissioner under the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.
In this role, she has been instrumental in coordinating government functions, implementing national projects, and leading conflict resolution and peace-building efforts at the grassroots level.
Her responsibilities also include crisis management, counter-terrorism, and disaster mitigation, all of which demand strong leadership and community engagement.
From 2018 to 2024, she served as a Huduma Centre Manager under the Huduma Kenya Programme.
Here, she was responsible for coordinating integrated government services, streamlining public service delivery, and leading teams in developing innovative solutions to enhance the citizen experience at government service points.

Media and Advocacy Work
In addition to her public service career, Jane has been a television presenter with the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) since 2013.
She is the long-time host of Abled Differently, a program that features powerful stories from the disability community in Kenya.
Through this platform, Jane raises awareness, highlights challenges and successes, and connects the public with critical support programs and policies.
Her work in media has become a vital part of national advocacy for disability inclusion.
