Antonina Lentojioni is a senior Kenyan education administrator and a recently nominated member of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

In a statement on July 21, State House confirmed that President Ruto has nominated Antonina Lentojoni to serve as a member of the TSC, alongside former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion, subject to approval by Parliament.

“The following Presidential nominations have been transmitted to Parliament for consideration and approval in accordance with the Constitution and the relevant statutes. Two Members, Teachers Service Commission (TSC): Ms. Antonina Lentojoni and Hon. Wilson Sossion,” read the statement in part.

Antonina Lentojoni’s Educational Background

Antonina Lentojoni holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi.

She also earned a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), providing the academic foundation for her career in education administration.

In addition, she is a certified ISO Lead Auditor, with professional training in quality management systems.

These qualifications support her extensive career in education administration and human resource management within the Teachers Service Commission.

Career Background Of Antonina Lentojoni

Antonina Lentojoni has more than 26 years of experience in the education sector. She has spent the last 17 years in senior management positions at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

She was appointed Acting Director of Staffing in July 2022 following a restructuring at the Commission. In August 2024, she was confirmed as the substantive Director of Staffing.

As Director of Staffing, Lentojoni has overseen key functions including teacher recruitment, deployment, transfers, and promotions.

In July 2026, President William Ruto nominated her to serve as a member of the Teachers Service Commission, adding her institutional experience to the constitutional commission.

Antonina Lentojoni’s Key Roles and Achievements at TSC

As Director of Staffing at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Antonina Lentojoni oversees teacher recruitment, deployment, transfers, promotions, and workforce planning across Kenya’s public education system.

She also manages teacher disciplinary processes, supervises regional and county TSC directors, oversees the Teacher Management Information System (TMIS), and supports the Commission’s ISO 9001:2015 quality management standards.

Among her key achievements is overseeing the deployment of more than 1,200 primary school teachers to junior secondary schools to support the rollout of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system.

She has also contributed to the development of a new administrative framework for comprehensive schools and led TSC’s engagement with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) on teacher workload and compensation under CBE.

Roles Lentojoni is Expected to Serve in New Role

As a TSC Commissioner, Antonina Lentojoni will help provide strategic leadership and oversight for the constitutional commission responsible for managing Kenya’s teaching workforce.

She will be expected to participate in decisions on teacher recruitment, registration, deployment, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary matters in line with the Constitution and the Teachers Service Commission Act.

Her role will also involve reviewing teacher education standards, assessing teacher demand and supply, and advising the national government on policies affecting the teaching profession.

Lentojoni will join other commissioners in shaping policies and providing governance to ensure effective management of teachers in public schools across the country.
