Former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion is among the latest beneficiaries of President William Ruto’s fresh postings to constitutional commissions and other state bodies announced on Tuesday.
In a statement on July 21, State House confirmed that President Ruto has nominated Sossion to serve as a member of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), subject to approval by Parliament.
“The following Presidential nominations have been transmitted to Parliament for consideration and approval in accordance with the Constitution and the relevant statutes.” “Two Members, Teachers Service Commission (TSC): Ms. Antonina Lentojioni and Hon. Wilson Sossion,” read the statement.
Sossion was nominated alongside Antonina Lentojioni, with the two expected to fill vacant positions at the commission.
The nominations form part of a round of nominations to constitutional commissions and statutory bodies, as well as promotions and redeployments within the Executive.

Sossion Among Fresh Appointments Made to Constitutional Commissions
Besides the TSC nominations, President Ruto nominated Dr. Duncan Ojwang Oburu as the Chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA).
He also nominated Flora Mutua to serve as a member of the Public Service Commission (PSC).
According to the Executive Office of the President, the nominations have been forwarded to Parliament for consideration and approval in accordance with the Constitution and the relevant statutes.
Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee Nominees
The President also nominated seven individuals for appointment to the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC), subject to ratification by the National and County Government Coordinating Summit.
The nominees are:
- Wilson Kuria Thuita (Murang’a)
- Silvya C. Apaa (Busia)
- Ahmed Kanyara Bishar (Wajir)
- Pascalyne Ntang’enoi Kimiriri (Laikipia)
- Ken Riaga (Migori)
- Evalyn Chepkirui Aruasa (Nakuru)
- Mary Nanjala Kilobi (Nairobi)

Isaac Mwaura Promoted, Government Gets New Spokesperson
The Public Service Commission also approved promotions and redeployments within the senior ranks of the Executive.
According to the statement, Isaac Mwaura has been promoted and redesignated as the Head of the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Disability Rights in the Executive Office of the President.
“The Public Service Commission has sanctioned the following promotions and redeployments within the senior ranks of the Executive as stated… Hon. Isaac M. Mwaura promoted and redesignated as Head of the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Disability Rights, Executive Office of the President,” read the statement in part.
Meanwhile, Charles Owino Wahong’o has been redeployed from the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy to the Executive Office of the President.
He will serve as the Acting Head of Government Communications and has also been appointed Government Spokesperson.
