Biography
Raymond Omollo, is the Principal Secretary (PS) in the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration.
He was born on the 27th December, 1979 in Homabay County, southern part of Nyanza in Kenya.
Early life and Education
Raymond attended his primary education studies at Muslim Primary School Kisumu, Omolo Agar and Rang’i Primary Schools in Homabay.
Thereafter, he proceeded to Mbita High School, Homabay, where he pursued his secondary school education.
Afterwards, Omollo was admitted to the University of Nairobi, where he took up a Bachelors course in Statistics.
Additionally, the PS holds a master’s degree in Biometry from the University of Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya and a Doctor of Philosophy PhD in applied Statistics from Maseno University in Kenya.
EXPERIENCE
Prior to his current role, Raymond served various roles between the period 2019 to 2022 including the Managing Director of the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA).
LBDA is a government agency that spearheads the socio-economic development of 18 counties in the Lake Victoria basin region.
In this role, Omollo was responsible for overseeing the agency’s activities and ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in the use of its resources.
Between the period 2007 to 2019 the PS worked at the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) Africa.
DNDi is an international non-profit organization focused on research and development for neglected diseases.
While there he served as the Head of Data Center and Statistician during this time and was responsible for departmental strategy formulation and implementation in line with overall organizational strategic direction among other key roles.
I served as a member of the Board of Directors at the Consolidated Bank of Kenya, a financial institution in Kenya in 2015 to 2018.
During this time, Raymond chaired the Credit and Finance Committee as well as the Risk and Compliance Committee, providing guidance and oversight for the bank’s operations.
Omollo is a research fellow and adjunct lecturer at Strathmore University, Nairobi, Kenya, at the Centre for Research in Therapeutic Sciences (CREATES) and School of Mathematics Sciences.
This is a position he has held from the year 2016 to date.
