Kenyan netizens have lashed out at videographer and popular content creator, Abel Mutua, popularly known by his brand name, Mkurugenzi after the untimely demise of his brother.
The digital content creator asked for financial aid following the death of his younger, brother Raphael Mbuvi Musyoka aka Rapho, a move that became the heart of controversy.
Further, Abel Mutua stated that any kind of support to help accord Raphael Mbuvi a decent sendoff would be highly appreciated.
Well-wishers were asked to send their contributions to M-Pesa till – 5853717.
However, this did not sit well with Kenyans who claimed he was rich enough to give his brother a decent send off without asking for help.
Additionally, some netizens speculated that he had not supported his brother when he was alive and therefore there was no need to ask for support when he was dead.
In a vitriol-based tirade by angry netizens, they speculated that the young man had committed suicide after being abandoned by Abel Mutua.
Angry Netizens Bash Abel Mutua
For instance, Instagram user, Little Cupcake noted, “It’s so sad that the first time most of us ever post our loved ones is when they die and not when they’re alive. Let’s publicly appreciate people when they’re still breathing.”

However, this was not the only comment that shared these sentiments.
“Stop taking advantage of your fans. You and a few of your friends can burry your brother. You are not poor. He wasn’t hospitalized either,” another Instagram user, Wambua j Mary, noted.
“If you were not there for your brother when he was alive, there is no need to be there for him when he is dead,” Yk Jey commented.
Celebrities Condole with the family
However, there was another section of netizens that were empathetic with Abel Mutua, sending him deepest condolences.
“Goodbye Rapho may you find rest little brother,” Catherine Kimani, popularly known as Kate Actress commented.

“May He rest in peace. Our deep condolences to you & your family,” Millicent Wambui Nganga, more famously known as Milly wa Jesus stated, standing with Abel Mutua.
However, Abel Mutua did not respond to the angry comments, choosing to keep mum on the situation.
Nevertheless, he went to his official X account, to thank his fans who had shown him support during this difficult time, promising to share the story of his late brother’s struggles.
“Thank you so much Wakurugenzi for the love that you’re sending our way. A good number of you know the truth and you have stood with us since my brother became ill. I’ll tell Rapho’s story because I know it’ll save someone and his death won’t be in vain. See you after the burial,” he posted on his X account.
This comment earned him more angry comments, with fans accusing him of wanting to profit off his brother’s pain by monetizing the story on his YouTube channel.
Notably, Abel Mutua is a decorated storyteller on YouTube where he uses his platform to entertain, educate and inform.
