The ex-lover of Kenyan musician Major Nameye Khadija famously known as Mejja cause a stir online after sharing a post seemingly referring to the musician as a ‘Luhya watchman’.

Milly Wairimu, posted an old photo of herself with Mejja in a car, accompanied by the caption, “Ukishaa lose feelings za mtu ulikuwa unapenda unaanzanga kuona akikaa watchman mlughya” 

The caption can be translated to “Once you don’t love someone anymore, you start seeing them as a Luhya watchman.”

Although the caption did not directly name Mejja, the context and content of the post strongly suggested it was directed at him, portraying a sense of disappointment and disapproval towards her past relationship.

Reactions from fans and followers 

The post triggered a wave of reactions from followers and fans, with some sympathizing with Milly’s emotional expression while others criticized her for what they perceived as being petty.

A user named Felystarz Mabera questioned whether Milly has moved on saying, “Kwani this one hasn’t moved on? She is just a bitter ex.”

Kyki_rapper defended Mejja saying “Even if you don’t like Mejja he the face of Kenya making the whole country proud every time it’s not easy being consistent hate him as a person fine but can’t hate his talent passion confidence and persistence.”

Others commented highlighting the disrespect implied to the Luhya community.

“Muki pendana sisi waluyha hatukuwafanyia patanisho, mmekosana mkaona mututaje. Riswa katika jina la yesu,” expressed Melankhisa.

Beaty Adhis expressed her disdain at the post saying “Kwani watchman mluhya sio mtu? Zingine sio jokes ni disrespect!”

Milly deletes post

Following the online backlash, Milly decided to delete the controversial post from her Instagram page, sparking further speculation about the unresolved tensions between her and Mejja.
