One year after the controversy between Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith at the Academy Awards, Chris Rock concluded his most recent comedy special on Netflix, by slamming and venting his frustrations about the couple.
On Saturday, Chris Rock hosted the first-ever live-streamed event that was hosted by Netflix.
The event was a comedy special called Chris Rock: Selective Outrage, which Rock revealed to be a link to Will, who is 54 years old.
Rock took time out of his routine to criticize both Will and his wife, despite the fact that he claimed to have spent his childhood “rooting for” and adoring Will.
“Will Smith engages in selective outrage,” said Rock during his stand-up routine. He then went on to say, in reference to the Oscars slap, “Everyone that really knows, knows I had nothing to do with that s—-.” I didn’t have any ‘entanglements.”
Rock was alluding to an event that took place back in July of 2020, when Jada, who is now 51 years old, discussed her “entanglement” with musician August Alsina at a time in the past when she and Will were taking a break from their relationship.

She explained at the time that she and Will eventually were able to mend their relationship, saying at the time, “We have truly gotten to that new place of unconditional love.”
The couple, who tied the knot in 1997, appeared together on an episode of Jada’s Red Table Talk show to discuss the matter.
“We’ve all been the victim of infidelity. “Everyone in our industry has been cheated on,” Rock remarked in the comedy special, “None of us have ever been interviewed by the person that cheated on us on television.” None of us, in fact… Why on earth would you do such a stupid thing? To clarify, she inflicted far more pain on him than he did on me.”
In an interview with Gayle King in March of 2022, Will stated that there “never has been adultery in our marriage. Never. We cover every topic in our conversations, and neither of us has ever managed to take the other by surprise with anything”

Rock then stated that “everyone in the world” labeled Will a “b*tch” after the announcement of the “entanglement,” and he stated that he attempted to reach out to him about it but claimed that Will didn’t pick up the phone when he called.

Will was then subjected to the comedian’s frequent use of the term “b*tch.”
After that, he joked, “Everyone. And who exactly did he hit? Me, a n*** that he is confident in his ability to defeat. That is some complete and utter s****.”
The comedian stated that he “did nothing” to Will, and then brought up the time when Jada’s boycott of the Academy Awards in 2016 occurred during the “#OscarsSoWhite” uproar, and she asked Rock not to host the ceremony.
Will’s performance in Concussion did not get him a nomination for that year’s awards.
During that year’s Oscars monologue, Rock poked fun of Jada by mocking her and claiming that she had no right to boycott an event to which she was not invited.
“I made some lighthearted comments about her. To whom does it matter? That’s the way it works, I take on where she leaves off “Rock remarked. “That is exactly what the f*** took place. Nobody is making fun of this b*tch right now. She is the one who began all of this. Nobody was being nasty to or picking on her.”
Rock explained that the reason he didn’t react or respond physically at the Oscars the year before was “because I was raised.”
He added, “Do you know the lessons that were imparted to me by my parents? It is inappropriate to fight in front of White people.”
After that, Rock walked offstage while receiving a standing ovation and then dropped the mic.
Following the incident that occurred at the Oscars the previous year, Will Smith has issued a public apology for his outburst, resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and been barred from attending any of the organization’s events for the next 10 years.
In June, Jada addressed the incident that occurred at the Oscars on an episode of Red Table Talk. She stated that her “deepest desire is that these two brilliant and talented men get the opportunity to heal, speak this out, and reconcile.”

Then, sometime in July, Smith posted a video apology on his social media platforms, offering more information on that night and stating that he has tried to reach out to Rock.
Rock did not respond to Smith’s message.
In his video he mentioned that “I’ve tried to get in touch with Chris, and the response I got was that he’s not ready to chat right now, but that he’ll get back to me as soon as he is. I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you, Chris. My actions were inappropriate, but I’m here whenever you’re ready to discuss this more.”
