TikTok has named popular tech content creator Roy Kanyi as one of the top content creators to watch in 2025.
Roy was named among the other five creators under the educator’s category on TikTok’s 2025 Discover List. He was recognized for his ability to simplify complex content on gadgets and electronics.

Why Roy Kanyi was recognised
“A tech enthusiast, Roy Kanyi, simplifies the complex world of gadgets and electronics. His engaging, relatable content helps users make informed decisions on smartphones, TVs, and tech accessories, making him a go-to creator for tech education,” stated TikTok.
TikTok celebrates 50 content creators globally across five categories: Icons, Innovators, Foodies, Educators, and Originators.

Kanyi is the only Kenyan who made it to the TikTok Discover List 2025 from Sub-Saharan Africa.

The TikTok Head of Content Operations in Sub-Saharan Africa, Boniswa Sidabwa, praised the top fifty creators named for using the platform to impact people and push boundaries.
“These creators have started conversations that matter, pushed creative boundaries and turned TikTok into a space where people can learn, connect, and be inspired,” stated Sidabwa.
Other African content creators to watch
Beyond his online presence, Roy Kanyi engages with the tech community through events and collaborations.
He often unpacks new gadgets and explains their properties to enable the users to make an informed decision.
Nigeria’s Tosin Samuel and Ghana’s Abena Amoakoaa were named in the foodies category. This is following their ability for food storytelling with stunning recipes and food presentations.

Nigeria’s Charity Ekezie was named under the Icon category for using humor to challenge misconceptions about Africa.
Under the innovator’s category, Fanuel John Msamaki thanks to his content around sports. He has amassed a following of 12 million that he continues to inspire through his content according to TikTok.
In the originator’s category, Seth Nathobela and Bongani Kenneth Sibanyoi of South Africa have used TikTok to take their Music global. Through the app, they have developed a fanbase beyond Africa.
