Eldoret-based musician Ricc Berry, alias King of Eldoret has picked a bone to chew with comedian Eric Omondi and organisers of Zuchu’s Kenya’s show scheduled for Eldoret in December 2022.
Ricc Berry, in a long post seen by The Kenya Times, accused the organisers of the event and Eric Omondi who will host it for ignoring Eldoret-based musicians and including some from Nairobi.
According to Ricc Berry, Eldoret musicians should have been given first priority and allowed to perform during Zuchu’s show considering the fact that the event will be held in their hometown.
Ricc Berry insisted organisers and Eric Omondi should have gotten a few artists from Nairobi and most from Eldoret just but to return the favour for hosting them.

“To @ericomondi . ELDORET ARTISTS SHOULD HEADLINE ZUCHU’S ELDORET CONCERT…Yes, we have seen the conditions set for #zuchu’sconcert in Kenya..its a good deal but as an artist from Eldoret ..we have a different opinion..The five kenyan artists who will be headlining the Nairobi concert I believe will be picked from Nairobi County and we have no doubt and problem about that…So that locks out artists from other regions and we don’t have a problem with that…Now coming back to my county 027 Uasin Gishu Eldoret we also have Artists who should be picked to headline this concert…we should only have one artist from Nairobi and the rest should be Eldoret artists. We have great and hardworking artists from this county and you can’t bring a concert to our hometown and then you neglect up. Its like campaigning to play 75% of Kenyan music and when it comes to our county you neglect the Kenyan music produced here and you import foreign artists from Nairobi,” Ricc wrote on Facebook.
His sentiments were echoed by hundreds of Eldoret artists and others from other parts of the country who held people from Eldoret should have been given first priority.
