President William Ruto was on Tuesday, September 13 accorded a 21-gun salute after he was officially sworn into office as the fifth president of Kenya.
The President was sworn in by Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi in the presence of Chief Justice Martha Koome.
Moreover, William Ruto will lead the country deputized by Rigathi Gachagua.
President William Ruto has officially taken over the reins of power from the former head of State Uhuru Kenyatta.
Uhuru Kenyatta’s 10-year tenure as the head of state has officially come to an end on Tuesday, September 13 following the official handing-over Ceremony at the Kasarani stadium.
Furthermore, Uhuru handed over the instruments of power to his successor flanked by Chief of Defence Forces Robert Kibochi.
Similarly, during a brief ceremony amidst jubilation from Kenyans, Uhuru Kenyatta handed over to President Ruto the 2010 constitution and the Presidential ceremonial sword made of stainless steel coated with gold.

Notwithstanding the frosty relationship between President William Ruto and his former boss Uhuru Kenyatta, the two leaders met Monday, September 13 at State House.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission declared Ruto President-Elect on August 15. However, president Ruto’s main political rival challenged his win at the Supreme Court.
Nevertheless, the apex court on September 5 upheld Ruto’s victory in the August 9 presidential election, ending weeks of political uncertainty in the country.
Moreover, the seven-judge bench led by Chief Justice Martha Koome, dismissed Odinga’s petition dealing a blow to his quest to ascend to the presidency.
Likewise, Raila Odinga who is currently out of the country and his running mate Martha Karua did not attend the Swearing-in ceremony.
