The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has called for investigations into a case where a witch doctor allegedly spent days at the University of Eldoret High School in Uasin Gishu County.
In a letter seen by The Kenya Times, KUPPET Uasin Gishu Executive Secretary Elijah Kimeli Maiyo wrote to the Ministry of Education and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) asking for action against the witch doctor.
According to the KUPPET official, the witch doctor showed up at the institution on March 17 and stayed until after March 18. According to reports, the witch doctor was conducting investigations in the school compound following a recent break-in by robbers.
“My office has received information of presence of an alleged witch doctor conducting investigation in the school compound following a recent break-in by robbers who vandalized school bus.
“I write to request for action against perpetrators of the most unfortunate incident that has caused fear and injuries the Christian faith and norms of our teaching fraternity,” the letter read.
Elijah confirmed to The Kenya Times through a phone call that the matter was under investigations adding that he was already at the school’s premises in the company of other officials.

Previous Letter from KUPPET Over Witchcraft
In a separate incident, the KUPPET official sent out a letter requesting special prayers at AIC Kapsaos Secondary School.
Elijah, in his letter dated March 16, 2023, requested prayers to exorcise traces of alleged malignant spirits in and around the principal’s office and the administration block of the institution.
In addition, he explained that he had received several reports of unexplained spiritual attacks whenever teachers were in the principal’s office.
“One witness claims to have entered the office and shocked to find a teacher was crying and the principal in extreme laughter, while others have claimed to have seen strange creatures and images in the principal’s office,” the letter read in part.

“Several teachers have reportedly sort medical attention only for the tests results to return no symptoms for any ailment. Many of them suffer from acute headaches and withdrawal syndrome.”
Subsequently, he sought intervention from a Bishop over the matter for prayers that were scheduled to take place on March 28, 2023, between 1pm and 2pm.
“I wish, therefore, having earlier been informed of the principal; a MS Benina Soi to allow staff meetings to start without Prayers, which she determined were not part of the agenda, to request for divine Prayers of His Lordship the Bishop, on 28th March 2023 at 1pm-2pm, teachers from neighboring schools will be in attendance,” added the letter.
