A family is appealing to investigative agencies to probe the death of their relative after he was found dead in his house. According to the family, the Kisumu-based journalist (Idhaa Ya Radio Lake Victoria), Fofana Bangali, was discovered lifeless in his home on Friday, March 28.
They also contended that the deceased had not shown any signs of illness prior to his death.

It is reported that the journalist had not communicated with his family for several days, prompting them to visit his home and speak with the landlord to ascertain whether he was there.
Upon arriving at his house, they found that it was locked from the inside, which led them to seek assistance from the police.

“The landlord helped us access Fofana’s house through the window. We managed to break the window and realized that he was lying on his bed. He was not sick. We tried to wake him, but there was no response.
So, we had to contact the police to help us break down the door since it was locked from the inside,” one family member said.

Fofana Bangali Found Dead in His House
Another family member urged authorities to promptly investigate the circumstances surrounding the journalist’s death, emphasizing that he had shown no signs of illness before his passing.
“Now, it is the police’s responsibility to determine what happened and inform us. We have nothing more to say. We will take the body and lay him to rest once the police have completed their investigation,” the family member added.

A social media user named Ogada Willis mourned the devastating loss of Fofana Bangali, noting that 2025 had already claimed five brilliant journalists in just three months.
“Eish! 2025 has brought us unimaginable heartbreak. In just three short months, we’ve lost five brilliant journalists to the silent world. Rest in peace, Fofana Bangali. The Rhumba and media fraternity is drowning in sorrow, mourning deeply for this irreplaceable loss,” Ogada lamented.
Radio Lake Victoria expressed, “As Radio Lake Victoria family, we are deeply saddened by the untimely death of one of our long-serving staff members, Mr. Fofana Bangali. Please keep us in your prayers.” Before his untimely demise, the journalist served as Managing Director at Radio Lake Victoria Limited.

Fofana was a well-known journalist in Kisumu, celebrated for his love of Rhumba music, which he showcased on his show at the Lake Victoria radio station, as well as for his passion for the Lingala language.
The death of Bangali comes at a time when the country has witnessed the loss of several journalists since the beginning of 2025.
Among those journalists who have died in 2025 include Njoroge Mwaura, Leonard Mambo Mbotela, Fredrick Parsayo, Rasna Warah, and Nick Mudimba.
