Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition are set to resume the anti-government protests on May 2, 2023.
The coalition’s executive council chairman Wycliffe Oparanya on Monday, April 24 stated that the resumption of the mass protests was provoked by the government’s failure to devote to holding constructive bipartisan talks.
Moreover, Oparanya said Kenya Kwanza has shown no interest in addressing their demands.
He instead claims, the President William Ruto-led administration has resorted to what he says is propaganda that the costs have decreased when the facts across Kenya indicate otherwise.
“It is therefore a mockery of the envisaged dialogue to have him at the negotiation table for Kenya Kwanza. Kenya Kwanza has also shown no commitment to lowering the cost of basic goods including unga, fuel, electricity, and school fees, read part of the statement.

Likewise, Oparanya alleged that Kenya Kwanza coalition has continually tried to include members allied to the Azimio la Umoja on its side, thence, violating the nation’s multiparty democracy.
Wyclife Oparanya was referring to the addition of Edlas MP Adan Keynan to the Kenya Kwanza delegation team, leaders he claims belongs to Azimio coalition.
“Legally, Hon. Adan Keynan remains an MP on Azimio ticket,” reads part of the statement.
According to Azimio’s executive council chairman, the coalition remains committed to an extra-parliamentary dialogue that should be “honest, transparent, meaningful, and bipartisan in conception and execution.”
He further noted that the anti-government protests will be limited to Nairobi.
