Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP)Babu Owino has declared himself the chief opposition leader.
While addressing the media, on July 25, Babu expressed his disappointment with opposition leaders who accepted Ruto’s cabinet nomination.
“From today, I am the chief opposition leader, because there are a lot of jokes doing rounds, there are so many people who were in opposition and are now in bed with the government,” expressed Babu.
Babu Owino clarified that his interest was to fight for the rights of all Kenyans regardless of their political stand.
“My interests are to fight for Kenyans, it pains to see a person who was a fellow MP joining the government, and it pains me to look back in Kibera slums, Soweto and in Central and everywhere else to see that child that has sent away because he lacks only Ksh 5,000 to secondary day schooling,” remarked Owino.
Babu Owino Lectures Ruto
While lecturing the government, the legislator revisited President Ruto’s campaign promises of creating an equal opportunity for people from all walks of life.
“Mr President you vied on ground that you were once selling eggs and chicken you should know better on how a hustler feels, you are not the same. You are no longer the hustler who used to preach the hustler narrative,” stated the Embakasi legislator.

Earlier, Homabay MP George Kaluma had disagreed with a statement issued by ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna dissociating the party with statement that if CS nominees form the coalition agreed to join the cabinet they would have done so without the blessing of the party.
In a statement on his X account, Kaluma noted that a press statement dated 23rd July did not have the correct details of the party’s resolution in their previous meeting.
