A Catholic priest has been reported dead after a night out with his girlfriend.
Police officers confirmed the demise of the 43-year-old priest who served at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ruai Parish.
The priest identified as Joseph Kariuki reportedly died on Saturday July 8 morning after being unconscious in a hotel in Murang’a County where he spent Friday night with his girlfriend who is also a church staff.
However, the alleged girlfriend rushed to the hotel reception on Saturday morning saying her man was not well.
According to police report, the hotel staff responded to the emergency, after they found the man unconscious and had rushed him to the hospital.
Moreover, the hotel staff informed local police who accompanied them to the hospital where the priest was pronounced dead on arrival.

“They then rushed him to Kenol hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival while still aboard his motor vehicle Toyota Harrier black in color,” reads part of the police report.
The cause of death is yet to be established.
In addition, police say that the priest’s body was found half-covered with a hotel bed sheet and white foam oozed from the mouth and nose.
The body has been moved to Mater Hospital mortuary in Nairobi pending autopsy and further police action.
