President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, has announced a competition aimed at empowering Kenyan youth.

In an update shared on Saturday, January 11, Charlene revealed the launch of a UI/UX website design competition for The Young People’s Network International (TYPNI), an organization she founded and serves as patron.

To participate, applicants must form teams of three, with all members aged between 18 and 35 years, including company directors.

They are also required to share three links of work done before, and a brief technical proposal.

Successful applicants stand a chance of winning a total amount of $1,500 (approximately Ksh194,000).

“It’s time for our next big thing – the Website Competition! If you’re between 18-35 years, gather a team of 3 and show us what you’ve got!” Charlene said in the announcement.

Submission deadline for the proposal has been set on February 11, 2025, with the public voting period set between February 25 and March 4.

Winners will be announced on March 3, 2025.

Winners presented with cash prize

Last year, Charlene had also announced another competition for TYPNI logo in which the winner took home Ksh100, 000.

“TYPNI is seeking a distinctive logo that embodies a youthful spirit and creativity. The competition provides an opportunity for young designers to showcase their talent and contribute to the vibrant identity of TYPNI,” read an update.

The first daughter then presented the winner of the competition, Kevin Chege, 1st runners up Sheldon Avedi and 2nd runners up Cynthia Wambui with their gift packages on May 19, 2024.

Apart from TYPNI, Charlene Ruto also founded the Smart Mechanized Agriculture & Climate Action for Humanity & Sustainability (SMACHS) Foundation.

SMACHS Foundation is a non-profit organization that empowers young people to lead the fight against hunger and climate change in Kenya.

It seeks to usher in a new age of youth-led and climate smart agriculture in order to create a future where young people are equipped to actively contribute to food security and climate action through smart, mechanized agricultural practices in three major thematic areas.

Apart from her foundations, Charlene Ruto also serves as Kenya’s Blood Ambassador after she was in January 2024 appointed by the Ministry of Health for her efforts to mobilize resources that support blood donation initiatives.
