Hype Ballo Arrested and Charged
In April, the hype man denied all the charges leveled against him. However, ODPP through prosecution counsel Jenifer Ndeda filed an application for his detention to allow the completion of a social inquiry report.
In the case, he is accused of assaulting the officer on March 16, alongside Eric Kariuki Gathua, Simon Wambugu Wanjiru, Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Cheruiyot Rotich and Agnes Kerubo Mogoiare.
However, Joseph Mwenda alias DJ Joe Mfalme and five other suspects who were also arrested were released and transformed into prosecution witnesses.
The officer was reported to have accidentally scraped DJ Joe’s car as he was exiting the parking lot, leading to a confrontation with the bouncers. The bouncers then pulled him out of the car and assaulted him.
Later, the officer was taken to Kikuyu police station where the accused officers were reported to have further assaulted him while in custody.
According to a hospital report, the deceased died of severe abdominal pain caused by assault and was unable to pass urine for about four hours.
The DCI officer later succumbed to injuries on March 21, 2024.

DJ Joe Mfalme Release
Following the release of the entertainer and his associates on Apil 8, the family of the late DCI officer Felix Kelian disclosed that prior to his demise, the deceased revealed he was assaulted by multiple individuals.
Appealing to the court, they urged for justice to be served, expressing concern that if the suspects remained free, the case might remain unresolved.
According to them, Kintosi was beaten up, arrested and locked up in a police cell. When he was released the following day, he went to the hospital to seek treatment and passed away.
“We have seen we are not likely to get justice, because when the case is just beginning and six of the seven suspects have just been freed, it is important for people to know we spoke to our kin before he died,
“The police officers were actually witnessing as the deceased was being beaten and therefore to us this not the way to go, we feel that so much is being hidden,” protested one of the family members.
