The EACC CEO will represent the Eastern Africa region for the next three years.
His election places Kenya at the centre of decision-making within the continental anti-corruption body and highlights the confidence that African anti-corruption agencies have in the country’s efforts to promote integrity, accountability and good governance.
Mohamud’s election comes at a time when Kenya is seeking to play a more prominent role in continental governance initiatives, as well as in the launch of the Africa Anti-Corruption Studies and Research Centre (CEREAC), the first Africa-wide anti-corruption research and training centre.
