Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has acquired a new political party.
The Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu has in a gazette dated February 14, announced that the former governor is the party leader of the Farmers Party.

Consequently, Waititu takes over from Irungu Nyakera, who serves as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
The felon is being deputized by John Wambugu who will be in charge of policy and strategy. At the same time, Nicholas Ikui is the deputy Party Leader, in charge of resource mobilization.

Moreover, Kenyans have been invited to provide their submissions within seven days to the registrar of political parties if they oppose the changes being made.
“Any person with written submissions concerning the intended changes by the political party shall within seven (7) days from the date of this publication make their written submissions to the Registrar of Political Parties,” indicated the notice.

The party offices are located at Lenana Road, Delta House, 5th Floor along University Way, Nairobi.

Waititu Sentenced
The former politician was on February 13 sentenced to prison after being convicted in a Ksh588 million graft case.
He was sentenced to 12 years in prison or a Ksh52.5 million fine by Millimani Anti-Corruption Court Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzioki.
The court ruled that Waititu unlawfully benefited from public funds, including Ksh25.6 million received through a company connected to him.
Additionally, the court barred Waititu, his wife, and his co-accused from holding public office for ten years.
Waititu was charged alongside his wife, Susan Ndung’u, who received a sentence of one year in prison or a Ksh500,000 fine.
Their co-accused, Charles Chege, director of Testimony Enterprises Limited, was sentenced to nine years in prison with an option to pay a Ksh 295 million fine.
Another director at Testimony Enterprises Limited, Beth Wangeci, was fined Ksh1 million or sentenced to one year in prison. Additionally, former Kiambu County Roads Chief Officer Luka Mwangi Wahinya was ordered to pay a total fine of Ksh 21 million or serve seven years in prison.
