The Standard Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Marion Mwangi is facing backlash after attempting to recall former employees.
The CEO, whose leadership has been under the spotlight recently, hoped to meet the ex-staff members for further discussions on outstanding benefits owed to them.
Sources have revealed to The Kenya Times that many of the former employees are hesitant to meet with the CEO, some citing unresolved issues during their previous tenures at the company.
The employees were sent a message asking them to show up at Panari Hotel’s Rubi Meeting Room on Thursday, November 28.
“You are invited to a meeting on Thursday, 28th November 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Panari Hotel (Rubi meeting room) to discuss the outstanding benefits owed to you.
“I will also provide an update on the steps management has taken to address this matter,” the message read in part.

Standard Group Employees Rejecting Meeting
One ex-employee, speaking on condition of anonymity, has shared that their dissatisfaction is based on previous treatment by the management, adding that the management is attempting to end their upcoming protest.
According to our source, the meeting is bait to disorient them. The employees have maintained that they will speak to the CEO through the media during the protest instead of in closed rooms.
According to The Standard, the meeting is meant to address outstanding issues, including the company’s ongoing financial restructuring efforts and collection of outstanding debts.
