Gospel musician Wilberforce Musyoka sustained injuries after his car collided with another vehicle on Saturday, April 20, evening at Masimba, Emali along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.
The accident occurred when the car he was traveling in collided with another car coming from the opposite direction. Occupants of the two vehicles were rushed to a hospital in Kilome, Makueni County, where they are receiving treatment.
Reports indicate that the other car was carrying the director of a popular restaurant in Makueni County.
Also, the crew accompanying the restaurant director reportedly sustained more life-threatening injuries.
Wilberforce Musyoka Sustains Minor Injuries
Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) Chief Executive Officer Ezekiel Mutua shared the news of the musician’s accident noting that Musyoka had survived and is currently under the care of doctors.
“I am informed that celebrated Gospel artist and MCSK member Wilberforce Musyoka was involved in a road accident earlier today, near Masimba in Emali, along Mombasa Road,” Mutua shared.
“I have learned that our brother is out of danger and is under the care of doctors. We thank God for saving him from the grisly accident.”

Similarly, Musyoka on his Facebook account confirmed that he was safe and had sustained minor injuries.
The head-on collision led to him sustaining a leg injury. Nonetheless, he exuded optimism that he would be discharged soon.
“I am safe after this accident today which happened near Masimba Mombasa Road after Emali. Thank you Jesus Christ your angels at work. Under care in hospital but doing well. Thanks, keep on praying for me,” he captioned images of the road crash.
This year, road crashes have claimed more lives compared to the year 2023.
Increased Road Accidents
Earlier this month, ten people died on the spot in a gruesome road accident involving five vehicles at Salama along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
An 18-seater matatu registered to Spannish Sacco, a 14-seater matatu registered to NAEKANA Sacco, two trucks and a saloon car were travelling through Mlima Kiu area, a notorious black spot, when the accident occurred at 8.30pm, Mukaa Sub- County Police Commander Barnabas Ng’eno reported.
According to data from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) road accidents across the country have claimed at least 1,189 lives since the beginning of the year.

This is an increase of 60 deaths compared to 1,129 recorded in the same period in 2023.
“Since the year started 7,198 Kenyans have been involved in road accidents, marking an increase of 1,908 compared to last year, 3,316 were seriously injured and 2,693 suffered from minor injuries,” NTSA said.
In 2023, crashes caused 1,129 deaths, seriously injuring 2,435 individuals, and resulting in at least 1,726 minor injuries.
Besides, 2,693 have been slightly injured in 2024, a 56% increase on the 1,726 recorded in the first three months of 2023.
