The Government has issued an update on the NYOTA Project following a rise in public inquiries about disbursement of the second tranche of Business Start-Up Capital.
The clarification comes amid concerns about fake online notices and confusion over the next steps for the program’s business support component.
In a statement dated May 29, Principal Secretary for the State Department for MSMEs Development, Susan Mang’eni, confirmed the ongoing preparations for nationwide disbursement.
“We wish to assure all NYOTA beneficiaries and the general public that the Government remains fully committed to supporting young entrepreneurs across the country through this transformative project. Preparations for the nationwide disbursement of the 2nd tranche of business start-up capital are currently being finalised,” the statement read.

The process is being carefully structured to ensure smooth implementation and accountability across all beneficiary categories under the programme.
Officials further stressed that the disbursement process is being aligned with established administrative and financial procedures to ensure transparency. Beneficiaries were encouraged to remain patient as final verification and logistical arrangements are completed ahead of the rollout.
Concern Over Fake Notices and Public Misinformation
The government has raised alarm over the circulation of misleading information online targeting NYOTA beneficiaries. According to the PS, several fake notices have been shared on social media, purporting to provide updates on the release of the second tranche of business start-up capital.
The Government warned that such misinformation has the potential to confuse beneficiaries, create unnecessary anxiety, and disrupt expectations among young entrepreneurs who are part of the national programme.
Beneficiaries have been urged to rely only on official communication channels from the State Department for MSMEs Development.
“We have also noted with concern the circulation of FAKE notices and misleading updates online purporting to provide information on the next steps of the NYOTA Project Business Support Component,” read the statement in part.
