Imposter Smoked Out Harassing Businessowners

The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) has cautioned Kenyans of an imposter, asserting as an official of the agency.

In a statement shared on 29 August, the Board shared details of an individual who has been engaging in unauthorized and deceptive activities, falsely as an official of the PPB.

“The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) has received concerning reports regarding an impostor named Evans Oino. This individual has been engaging in unauthorized and deceptive activities, falsely asserting as an official of the PPB,” the statement read.

Furthermore, PPB disclosed the contact details, the person was using to con Kenyans, asking the public to be cautious.

“The impostor has been using the following telephone numbers 0731475743, 0721264695, 0734780599, and 0737338369 to make calls, send text messages, and exert pressure on pharmaceutical sector stakeholders, claiming to offer assistance in obtaining PPB services,” PPB cautioned Kenyans.

The Board further asked victims of such fraudulent schemes to promptly report these incidents to their local law enforcement authorities for necessary action.

Moreover, the PPB shared their formal communication channels including an email and phone number.

About the Poisons Board

The Pharmacy and Poisons Board is the Drug Regulatory Authority established under the Pharmacy and Poisons Act, Chapter 244 of the Laws of Kenya.

Moreover, the Board is tasked with the role regulating the Practice of Pharmacy and the Manufacture and Trade in drugs and poisons.

Additionally, PPB is mandated to implement the appropriate regulatory measures to achieve the highest standards of safety, efficacy and quality for all drugs, chemical substances, and medical devices, locally manufactured, imported, exported, distributed, sold, or used, to ensure the protection of the consumer as envisaged by the laws regulating drugs in force in Kenya.

Moreover, PPB is concerned with the registration of medical products and health technologies, inspections, and enforcement of good practices for manufacturing and distribution, post-market surveillance, clinical trials, vigilance, and appropriate use of products to ensure their quality, safety, efficacy, and economic value as defined in the Pharmacy and Poisons Act.
