Veteran journalist Joseph Ageyo commonly known as Joe Ageyo has been appointed as Nation Media Group’s (NMG) Editor-in-Chief in the Editorial Department.
In a statement, NMG explained that Joe Ageyo’s new duties will include operationalization of the newsroom integration as well as taking charge of the editorial arm of the business.
“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Joseph Ageyo as the Editor-in-Chief at Nation Media Group. In this role, Joe will be responsible for the operationalization of the newsroom integration and take charge of the Group’s editorial arm of the business,” NMG said.
Moreover, Nation Media Group Chief Executive Officer Stephen Gitagama in the statement noted that Joe will report directly to the CEO.
“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Joseph Ageyo as Editor-in-Chief in the Editorial Department, reporting to the Group CEO,” Gitagama stated.

Joe Ageyo stint at NMG
Joe Ageyo left Royal Media Service after his appointment as the Editorial Director-Broadcasting at NMG in April 2022.
He was later promoted to the Group Editorial Director in November 2022 a role he held until his appointment as the Editor -in -Chief.
Furthermore, NMG CEO, while congratulating Ageyo on his appointment highlighted some of his new duties and responsibilities.
“As the Editor-in-Chief, Joe’s immediate priority will be the successful operationalization of the Integrated Newsroom,” Gitagama said.
“He will also be charged with overall responsibilities for the Group’s Editorial operations across all platforms and ensuring the Group’s Editorial Policy is upheld,” he added.
Joe Ageyo’s Education Background
Joe Ageyo holds an MSc. in Environmental Governance from the University of Manchester, a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication from University of Nairobi’s School of Journalism, and a Bachelor of Agribusiness Management from Egerton University.
In addition, the veteran journalist holds certificates in Sustainability Management and Environment Diplomacy from the University of Tilburg, Netherlands, and the University of Geneva, respectively.

Furthermore, Joe is currently pursuing a PhD in Media Studies at Daystar University.
Ageyo’s Work Experience
Nonetheless, Joe Ageyo has served in the media industry in different roles and for different media houses.
Joe was the deputy news editor in KTN for 4 years before moving to Nation Media Group as the head of news production in 2005.
In 2012 Ageyo served as the managing editor for KTN a position he held for five years before joining RMS in 2018 as the editorial director.
