The Kenyatta International Airport – JKIA has welcomed another airline to its portfolio as it continues to position itself as a regional hub for air travel.
During the event, Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Board Chairman, Caleb Kositany, and Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA) Chairman Dr. Joseph Kithitu were elated after Togo’s ASKY Airlines touched at JKIA on Sunday night, October 1.
KAA announced that the new route, the Lomé (Togo) – Nairobi (Kenya) would connect West Africa to East Africa directly.
“We are thrilled to announce the inception of the Lomé (Togo) – Nairobi (Kenya) route by ASKY Airlines, establishing a pivotal direct link between the vibrant regions of West and East Africa,” read the statement by KAA.
Additionally, Kositany revealed the ambitious plans for constructing a new and modern terminal at JKIA.
Moreover, the launch of the new flight underscored Kenya’s continuous commitment to strengthening JKIA’s role as Africa’s top hub, acting as the best gateway to and from East and Central Africa.

ASKY Airlines takes pride in its broad network, which connects Abidjan, Abuja, Accra, Bamako, Bangui, Bissau, and Beirut.
More Flights at JKIA
Subsequently, the arrival of the ASKY Airlines in Kenya came days after the national carrier Kenya Airways introduced more flights to London from JKIA.
KQ announced additional flights from Nairobi to London on September 28 where the flights were increased to fourteen from the current ten.
The National Carrier added that the introduction of the two flights daily would be effective October 29.

Further, KQ promised to deploy the 8787 Boeing Dreamliner on the route to enable them to get 14 flights per week.
“The additional weekly flights will cater to the increased market demand for this route and growing passenger demand,” the statement read.
Moreover, the Kenya Airways said that it was a relief for the weekly customers as they would enjoy increased travel options with two flights per day.
Also, KQ noted that the customers would be able to choose between a morning flight via KQ 100 and an evening flight via KQ 102. This would allow more travel options, convenience, and flexibility on the part of their customers.
