Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Justin Muturi has called on President William Ruto to form a Commission of Inquiry to investigate the gruesome abductions and extrajudicial killings.
Muturi emphasized that the commission would delve into the root causes of the abductions and extrajudicial killings.
He stated that the commission’s work would lead to actionable recommendations aimed at addressing the underlying issues and preventing such incidents from recurring in the future.
“When I called my press conference on the 12th of January, I said that this matter if left unchecked can plunge the country into anarchy and chaos and called for a national dialogue or indeed a public commission of inquiry to inquire into these gruesome murders and let us be told if whether there is a policy in government, which I am not aware of that supports abductions and extra judicial killings,” he said.
“Mr President I am calling upon you now to order an end to these abductions which you promised, extra-judicial killings and an open inquiry to examine, inquire into how these things have been happening.
Muturi Criticizes Ruto for Prioritizing DRC Crisis Over Kenya’s Challenges
Muturi questioned why President Ruto is taking the lead in addressing the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) war crisis while his own country continues to experience worrying trends.
“This is a very serious matter. It should take the anger of this country, because why are we kidnapping young boys and girls only to be found killed later? What Kind of a country are we and we are pretending to be solving matters in the DRC?” he posed.
“This is a very serious issue the number of people that have died are so many that it should prick the conscience of any right-thinking leader in this country.”

He added, “It is not right that parents of these young people and their relatives can stay in periods excess of forty days looking for their loved ones and we sit somewhere claiming that we are talking about matters of the economy of this country.”
The CS said the country should shelve all the matters they have to discuss the issues of extrajudicial killings and abductions.
“I sit in government, and I am not aware of any policy that supports abductions and extrajudicial killings, and it is not right that parents and relatives can stay for a period in excess of 40 days looking for their loved young ones and we sit somewhere claiming that we are discussing matters of economy of this country,” he said.
“If we are abducting and killing them who you who are doing the economy for.”

CS Alleges Police are Involved in Abductions
Muturi recalled that during the campaigns they went around the country promising that abductions, extrajudicial killings would not happen at their watch, but it is now happening.
He went on to mention that the government cannot lie that the Police are not involved in the ebductions.
“It has been happening, and we are trying to normalize it as we are here mourning and grieving about these four who had gone missing. We are also aware that two young men were killed in Nakuru in circumstances that those involved are security personnel.
“I want to say we cannot be told that the Police are not involved, our Police Service is known to be one of the most efficient in this region and therefore if they wanted to crack this matter and bring the culprits to book it would be a matter of just a few days or hours”
