Wiper Leader and Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has issued three demands to President William Ruto regarding the ongoing anti-government protests.
Speaking during the assenting to IEBC Bill event at KICC, Kalonzo called out the President to take a keen interest to the ongoing protests by the Kenyan youth.
He asked President Ruto to take a fresh look at the ongoing events and make fresh determinations.
Kalonzo asked Ruto to either order for the resignation of Inspector General (IG) of Police Japhet Koome or take the police out of the streets.
Additionally, he asked the president to order the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) back to the barracks.

“In order to bring the country to normalcy, order the IG of police to resign or remove the police from the streets and send the army back to the barracks,” Kalonzo said.
Kalonzo said the President Ruto and the government cannot ignore the calls by the Gen Z which has led to the death of 41 people.
“Mr President, I want to urge that we look at our country afresh. There is no way we can wish away the Gen Z revolution,” he said.

He recalled that the Kenya Kwanza led by National Assembly Majority Kimani Ichung’wah blocked the opposition from discussing the issue of high cost of living during the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) engagement.
However, he argued that the government should change that thought in the light of recent developments about the Finance Bill and the riots.
“As Azimio, our number one topic at NADCO was the high cost of living, but Kimani and the team convinced us that it was the government’s responsibility and the opposition had nothing to do with the cost of living. I hope in light of recent developments, my friend Kimani would have revised that thought.

Kalonzo Warns Govt Against Gen Z
Kalonzo said Gen Z have protested better than the opposition did back in 2023 before the formation of NADCO.
“If we are to be honest by ourselves, perhaps we need to go back to Bomas because during presentation a lot of Kenyans wanted us to open this space that the Gen Z have opened. I wished we had moved with speed, it has taken delay to get the first product out of NADCO,” he said.
Kalonzo stated that it was difficult to access the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) and attend the event for various reasons including barricaded routes and heavy security due to the anti-government protests.
“I thank the organizers for bringing it to KICC because if it was State House, it could have been harder because the country is in crossroads,” he said.
He warned that the Gen Z will throw out the politicians and take charge if the government fails to meet their demands.
“If we are not careful all of us will be thrown out by the Gen Z because they say they have come of age… you say we are leaders of tomorrow, but we are leaders of now. We can’t wish them away,” Kalonzo warned.
