CCTV footage has captured the final moments leading to the fatal stabbing of motorist Kennedy Ngeno during a road rage incident on Mombasa Road near Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.
Revealed footage captures how a minor traffic collision escalated into a violent confrontation that left Kennedy Ngeno dead and led to the arrest of the main suspect.
The CCTV footage begins at about 4:36 a.m. near Nyayo Stadium, showing three vehicles coming to a sudden stop after what appeared to be a minor traffic accident.
The suspect is then seen getting out of his vehicle and walking directly toward a white car, where an argument begins between the occupants over the collision.
A short while later, the suspect is captured taking photographs at the scene. Moments later, a struggle breaks out as other people appear to try to grab his phone.
The confrontation quickly escalates into a physical fight involving several people from the vehicles.
The footage then shows one man being stabbed with a sharp object before the attacker allegedly turns on Kennedy Ngeno, repeatedly stabbing him as he tries to run away.
Ngeno is seen attempting to flee but collapses on the road after sustaining multiple injuries.
About nine minutes later, friends carry him into a white vehicle and rush him to hospital, where he is later pronounced dead.
Reportedly, a post-mortem examination confirmed that Kennedy Ngeno died from multiple stab wounds, including a fatal chest wound that penetrated his heart.
Kennedy Ngeno Murder Suspect Arrested as Investigations Gather Pace
Police arrested the main suspect three days after the fatal road rage incident that occurred on August 1, and he is currently being held at Industrial Area Police Station as detectives continue with investigations.
Investigators said the suspect is expected to be presented in court, where police will seek custodial orders to allow them to complete the investigation before formal charges are preferred.
“After the autopsy, the doctor gave us a report that showed that Ken’s life was ended by a stab on his chest which penetrated through to his heart. There were also many other stabs, around five stabs and many more cuts on the hands. We have enough witnesses to prove that this case was a case of stabbing,” the police said.
Further, it was confirmed that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is processing the suspect, and the vehicle believed to have been used during the incident has also been impounded and taken to the DCI Makadara offices for further examination.

According to the autopsy findings, the fatal injury was a stab wound to the chest that penetrated the heart. The examination also documented about five additional stab wounds and several cuts on the victim’s hands.
Investigators said witness statements indicate that the victim was stabbed during the confrontation. They added that multiple witnesses reported seeing the attacker armed with a knife during the incident.
Police said the suspected murder weapon has not yet been recovered. Detectives hope ongoing interrogations and court proceedings will help locate the knife as part of the investigation.
“It was a case of no provocation. It was a case of someone who had ill motive. All the witnesses who were present saw the knife. It’s only that the knife went with the perpetrator. And we hope that from the interrogation that we will do in court, he will be able to produce the murder weapon.”
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue collecting evidence before presenting the case in court.
How the Fatal Road Rage Incident Unfolded
Kennedy Ngeno, 30, was traveling to Nairobi from his rural home in Roret, Kericho County, before making a stop at his cousin’s residence in Uthiru. Later that evening, they went out with friends before heading towards Pipeline Estate in two separate vehicles.

According to the family, one of the vehicles was involved in a minor traffic collision near Nyayo Stadium after it was allegedly hit from behind by an online taxi driver. The occupants pulled over to assess the damage.
Relatives said the situation quickly escalated when the taxi driver allegedly became aggressive instead of resolving the matter. They claimed he damaged the vehicle’s windscreen, prompting those at the scene to move a short distance away and call Kennedy, who was traveling in the second vehicle.
When Kennedy arrived to assist, an argument broke out between the two sides. During the confrontation, the taxi driver allegedly retrieved a knife from his vehicle and attacked him.
Kennedy sustained multiple stab wounds and collapsed at the scene. Another person was also injured during the altercation.
Family members rushed Kennedy to Mbagathi Hospital for emergency treatment, but he later succumbed to his injuries. His family is now calling for justice as police continue investigating the case.
