Kenya Met Releases Five-Day Weather Outlook for Nairobi & Other Regions

The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has issued a five-day weather outlook for the period between September 14 to September 18, 2024.

According to the weather forecast department, most parts of the country are likely to be generally sunny and dry. However, a few areas in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley may receive light to moderate rainfall

On September 14, regions around the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley will experience sunny intervals in the morning while there will be showers and thunderstorms over a few places in the afternoon and at night- according to the forecast.

The maximum temperature is predicted to be 32°C while the minimum temperature will be 08°C.

The maximum temperature is predicted to be 33°C while the minimum temperature will be 07°C.

There will be sunny intervals in morning and showers and thunderstorms over a few places in the afternoon for the remaining three days and a chance of showers over a few places on the night of September 17 with a maximum temperature of 32°C and a minimum temperature of 09°C.

For September 16th and 18th, the nights will be partly cloudy with temperature rising to 31°C and falling to 09°C.

Counties in the named regions include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot.

Weather Predictions for Nairobi & its Environs

Counties in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi County, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka Nithi will experience sunny intervals during the day with the nights being partly cloudy between September 14th and September 16th.

There will be cloudy periods breaking into sunny intervals on the morning of September 17th and chances of shower in the afternoon.

The weatherman said there will be rains over a few places on the morning of September 18th and showers over a few places in the afternoon.

The minimum temperature will be at 05°C rising to 30°C throughout this period.

Turkana & Samburu Forecast

The North-western region which includes Turkana and Samburu Counties will experience sunny intervals throughout the day with the nights being partly cloudy across the five days.

The temperature will range between 11°C and 38°C during this period with the lowest temperature being on September 15th and the highest on September 18.

Northeastern Counties

Similarly, North-eastern region counties including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties will experience sunny intervals during the day and cloudy nights.

The minimum temperature will be 15°C on September 14 but increase to 16°C in the remaining four days.

Southeastern Regions

Kenya Met said South-eastern lowlands (Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties) will also experience sunny intervals during the day with the nights being partly cloudy.

The minimum temperature will be 10°C on September 14 but will rise to 11°C and finally to 12°C on the last day.

Coastal Counties

The Coastal counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale will have sunny days and partly cloudy nights between September 14th and September 16th. However, there is a chance of showers over a few places on the night of September 16th.

The weatherman predicts showers over a few places on the mornings and afternoons of September 17th and 18th.

There will be showers over a few places on the night of September 17th with a chance of showers on the last night of the weatherman’s calendar.

The minimum temperature will be 21°C with a maximum of 31°C throughout the first days at the Coast.
