Njeri Mbugua, a Kenyan content creator has offered to give free Nyama Choma to members of the public as she attempts to break a Guinness World Record.
Njeri is on a mission to beat an 80-hour longest barbecue marathon by an individual record by going for seven consecutive days.
Through her social media accounts, Njeri invited Kenyans to grace the event and get free barbecued meat.
She announced that the event will take place from August 31 to September 6, 2024, at Sagret Gardens along Kiambu Road.

Njeri on Why She Wants to Beat the Guiness World Record
The content creator announced her plans to conduct the Choma thon earlier in June, saying that it will be a huge milestone for her, her online community and Kenya.
Moreover, the current record holder of the feat is Jan Greeff in Columbus, a United States citizen who broke the record in April 2014.
To beat the record, Jan cooked all types of meat including 1,000 hotdogs, 200 pieces of corn, 104 pieces of chicken, 558 burgers, and 526 boerewors, a South African sausage.
“Hio title tutaanguka nayo pale Sagret Gardens, Kiambu Road. Nyama Choma itakua kwa wingi for free. Only good vibes and Nyama Choma, the event dates zitakua from 31st August to 6th of September,” Njeri announced.
Translating to “We will be getting that title at Sagret Gardens along kiambu Road. Nyama Choma will be in plenty and for free. The event dates are August 31 to August 6.”

Proceeds of Nyama Choma Thon to go to Kenyan Charity
Aside from the accolades and titles, Njeri intends to use the proceeds of the event to mobilize funding and support for victims of domestic violence in Kenya.
She announced that the support will help women in various shelters across the country who are hosting these women.
“I will be barbecuing for 7 days non-stop to break the existing 80-hour record. This title belongs to us Kenyans. Nyama choma is our thing,”
“As I will be attempting to break the record, I also intend to raise money for a domestic violence and sexual assault shelter for women in Kenya. Please join me in this historic event,” she added.
