The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) has announced temporary road closures along key routes in Ngong to facilitate the Oloolua Forest Run 2026.
In a public notice published on April 24, 2026, in collaboration with the State Department of Irrigation, KeRRA stated that the affected roads include Forest Line Road, Ngong Road at Embubul Junction, Tamfeed/Gataka Junction, and the stretch up to the SGR Bridge on Olkeri Road.
“In collaboration with the State Department of Irrigation, the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) wishes to notify the public of temporary road closure along Forest Line Road, Ngong Road at Embubul Junction, Tamfeed/Gataka Junction, and up to the SGR Bridge on Olkeri Road,” read part of the notice.
The closure is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 6:00 am to 11:00 am to allow for traffic management during the event.
KeRRA List Alternative Routes For Motorists
In the notice, KeRRA advised motorists and residents to plan their journeys and use alternative routes.
These include:
- Cooperative–Gataka–Olkeri Road via Magadi Road
- Matasia–Ngong–Karen Road.
KeRRA also urged road users to cooperate during the temporary disruption, noting that the measures are aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and safety for participants during the run.

Additionally, the authority regretted any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure and urged road users to cooperate with traffic marshals and event organizers to ensure smooth traffic flow.
KeRRA also apologized for any inconvenience caused and appreciated public understanding.
“We regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate the public’s cooperation in supporting a safe and successful event.”
Normal traffic flow is expected to resume after the event concludes at 11:00 am.
Oloolua Forest Run 2026
The Oloolua Forest Run 2026 will start at Turaco Camp in Oloolua Forest, the Karen suburb of Nairobi, Kenya.
Residents are invited to take part in the community-driven event to support conservation efforts in Oloolua Forest.
According to the organizers, the race categories are 5 km and 10 km.
Participants can register by dialing *658*83# for Registration Fees, with Kids paying KSh 500 and Adults KSh 1,000.
The initiative, themed “Run It. Fence It. Save It.”, seeks to raise awareness and mobilize support for forest conservation and protection efforts.
7 Roads to Close for 6 Hours During Eldoret City Marathon
Elsewhere, Motorists transiting through Eldoret have been advised to expect traffic disruptions on several roads on Sunday, April 26, 2026, during the Eldoret City Marathon.
This disruption is scheduled to take place during the 7th edition of the Eldoret City Marathon, which will be held in and around the town of Eldoret.

In a traffic advisory on April 23, event organizers indicated that traffic movement will be affected between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon, as sections of key roads will be temporarily closed to ensure the safety of athletes and spectators.
The roads listed to be affected include:
- Nairobi Road
- Kisumu Road
- Iten Road
- Turbo Road
- Kaptagat Road
- Kiplombe Road
- Eldoret town service roads
The Eldoret marathon will begin at White Highlands Inn and end at the Tax Center. Along the way, runners will move through different parts of Eldoret town, nearby neighborhoods, and main roads, before making their way back to the town center.
The event will feature several race categories, including the 42.195-kilometer marathon, a 10-kilometer fun race, and a one‑mile race, all using sections of the same route at different stages of the event.
