Motorists transiting through Eldoret have been advised to expect traffic disruptions on several roads on Sunday, April 26, 2026, during the Eldoret City Marathon.
This disruption is scheduled to take place during the 7th edition of the Eldoret City Marathon, which will be held in and around the town of Eldoret.
In a traffic advisory on April 23, event organizers indicated that traffic movement will be affected between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon, as sections of key roads will be temporarily closed to ensure the safety of athletes and spectators.
Eldoret Roads to Experience Traffic Disruptions on April 26
The roads listed to be affected include:
- Nairobi Road
- Kisumu Road
- Iten Road
- Turbo Road
- Kaptagat Road
- Kiplombe Road
- Eldoret town service roads
“Sections of the following roads will be temporarily closed to ensure the safety of athletes and spectators,” the advisory stated in part, adding that the closures will run from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Organizers clarified that the closures would apply only to specific sections along the marathon route and would be managed progressively as runners move through the course.
According to the route map, the race will begin at White Highlands Inn and end at the Tax Center. Along the way, runners will move through different parts of Eldoret town, nearby neighborhoods, and main roads, before making their way back to the town center.
The event will feature several race categories, including the 42.195-kilometer marathon, a 10-kilometer fun race, and a one‑mile race, all using sections of the same route at different stages of the event.
Physical Registration Points for Participants
Ahead of race day, organizers announced that in-person registration is ongoing at designated centers for participants unable to register online.

Participants can also register online via the official marathon website at www.eldoretcitymarathon.co.ke.
Normal traffic flow is expected to resume after 12:00 noon, once the marathon and related activities have concluded.
