Entrepreneur Joseph Kairo Wambui, also known as Khalif Kairo, has addressed allegations of bankruptcy related to his company, Kairo and Karo, which specializes in car sales and importation.
This comes after images circulating on social media showed his car yard nearly empty.
In a video shared on Wednesday, Kairo dismissed claims that his company is facing bankruptcy, stating that these accusations are part of a smear campaign aimed at damaging his reputation.
“Our company has encountered challenges over the past few months, much like many other businesses in Kenya. However, as a young company, we have been subjected to some of the worst smear campaigns ever,” Kairo said.

He reassured his customers and partners that the company is not shutting down.
“Kairo is not going anywhere. I am not closing my company. I have not gone bankrupt; we are still in business,” he clarified.
In response to images circulating on social media showing his car yard on Kiambu Road nearly empty since December 23, Kairo clarified that the yard is being renovated and that all showrooms are scheduled to reopen on January 7, 2025.

“We took a break around December 23 and intend to resume work on January 7. During this period, we will be making several renovations to improve our structures, especially on Kiambu Road, to enhance the overall appearance of the place.
This is why you aren’t seeing any cars on the plot,” Kairo added.
He further acknowledged that indeed his business has been facing challenges and promised that things would change come 2025.

“All these issues you are seeing right now are quite normal. At one point in business things don’t always go right and you have to undergo a phase where you have to get a little bit of legal issues. Overtime every entrepreneur normally overcomes it,” Kairo noted.
The 28-year-old stated that he will not stop doing business despite facing online attacks with reports about financial issues at the Kai and Karo company.

Additionally, some claims suggest that the company failed to deliver cars to clients after they had paid, leading to speculation from social media influencers that he was arrested due to this situation.
However, Kairo has consistently denied these allegations, asserting that he has never scammed any of his customers.
