Kibet Bull Speaks for the First Time After His Release

Cartoonist Gideon Kibet, popularly known as Kibet Bull addressed a press conference after he was released by his abductors.

Kibet confirmed that he was dropped at Luanda, Vihiga County in the morning of January 6, 2025.

He explained that he initially didn’t know the place but realized it was Luanda after taking a walk.

“I want to confirm to Kenyans that I am safe, and I have arrived home. At first, I didn’t know where I had been dropped, but after walking a short distance, I realized it was Luanda,” Kibet said.

Kibet Bull said he was dropped between 3am and 4am.

He then looked for a safe place to stay until dawn before he could travel home.

Additionally, he confirmed that he is the person who tweeted to confirm that he was safe.

In the tweet, Kibet said he had been released and didn’t know where to book a room.

Therefore, he attended a village night dance until 6am before proceeding to book a ticket home.

“They dropped me in Luanda, Vihiga, at 3-4 AM today. I didn’t know where to go or book a room. Shortly after, I joined a funeral disco event, danced until 6 AM, and then went to book a ticket,” reads the tweet.

No Physical Injury & Message to Kenyans

Kibet said he had no physical injury and thanked Kenyans for demanding for the release of all abductees.

“I don’t have any injury; I am just tired. I want to thank all Kenyans who pushed the hashtag on twitter or those who played a role in the release of the abductees,” he said.

Kibet said he had reached out to his brother, Rony Kiplangat, who had also been abducted.

He stated that people are being abducted and urged the government to allow freedom of speech.

Kibet said the government should present people to court as stipulated in the Constitution.

“I will reveal my plans when my mind will be settled,” he said.

Kibet’s Mother Narrates Ordeal

Earlier, his mum, Caroline Mutai, recounted how the past few days have been painful.

Caroline said she was crying when others were celebrating during the festive season.

Her two sons, Kibet and Rony, were kidnapped on December 24th and 21st

“I was just reading my Bible and asking God for help. I almost complained,” she said.

Caroline said she was called by a new number at around 10am and the caller identified himself as her son Ronny.

However, her efforts to get more information about his wellbeing were futile since Ronny could not speak to her.

She then spoke to his friend who confirmed that he had been released.

Other abductees Billy Mwangi and Peter Muteti were also freed while the whereabouts of Steve Kavingo remain unknown.
