KRA Declares Managerial Positions Vacant: Qualifications and How to Apply

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced new job openings for experienced professionals, inviting applications for deputy commissioner roles and manager positions.

In notices dated March 3, 2026, KRA declared vacancies for 5 deputy commissioners and 6 managers, as part of efforts to strengthen tax administration, enforcement, strategic planning, and digital systems within the agency. 

“Our client, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), is a state agency of the Government of Kenya established under the Kenya Revenue Authority Act of 1995, CAP 469. KRA is seeking to recruit results-oriented, self-driven, dynamic, and experienced individuals with high integrity to fill the positions of Deputy Commissioners,” read one of the KRA notices.

KRA said these high-level roles are important for improving revenue collection, fighting tax evasion, modernizing operations using technology and data, and supporting the country’s development goals.

KRA Deputy Commissioner Roles: Senior Leadership in Tax Collection and Enforcement

The Deputy Commissioner roles are senior positions that oversee major tax and compliance functions. They include:

• Deputy Commissioner – Revenue (Investigations): Leads investigations into tax evasion and fraud.
• Deputy Commissioner – Revenue (Large Taxpayer Office): Manages big companies and high-value taxpayers.
• Deputy Commissioner – Research, Corporate Planning & Reforms: Handles strategy, research, and improvements within KRA.
• Deputy Commissioner – Compliance East and South of Nairobi: Ensures tax rules are followed in that region.
• Deputy Commissioner – Performance Management: Monitors and boosts staff and departmental performance.

Manager Roles: Focus on Technology, Data, and Internal Controls

The Manager positions support technology operations, data quality, analytics, and risk management. These include:

• Manager – Digital Communication & Production: Manages KRA’s digital content and communications.
• Manager – Data & Big Operations: Oversees large-scale data operations.
• Manager – Quality & Master Data Management: Ensures taxpayer and system data is accurate.
• Manager – Continuous Audit: Conducts continuous checks to detect early risks.
• Manager – Analytics & Strategic Reporting: Uses data to produce decision-making reports.
• Manager – Enterprise Database Administration: Manages and secures KRA’s core databases.
