Lawyer Who Participated in Gachagua’s Impeachment Hearing Clarifies PS Appointment

Peter Wanyama, a lawyer who represented the National Assembly during former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment hearing, clarified on Friday evening, January 24, that he was not shortlisted for the Principal Secretary (PS) position.

In a statement, Wanyama denied applying for the PS position, explaining that the shortlisted individual simply shares a name with him. He also emphasized that he has never applied for a government job in his legal career spanning 17 years.

“I have never applied for any government job in my 17 years of legal practice. But I wish my namesake from Bungoma well. By the way, there are more than 100 Peter Wanyamas from Bungoma. We are distinguished by our third names. Mine is Manyonge,” Wanyama clarified.

The clarification came after Wanyama received numerous congratulatory messages, with some people even seeking favors from him.

“I have received many congratulatory messages! Some folks are already asking me for jobs! I am sorry to disappoint; I am a hardcore legal practitioner, not the PS applicant,” Wanyama said.
