The Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife has shared a list of all national parks that Kenyans can access free of charge on September 28, 2024, in marking the World Tourism Day.
In a statement, the Ministry urged Kenyans to take advantage of the free entry and explore the country’s various attractions.
“All Kenyan citizens get free entry to every Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) managed park and reserve. Yes, even Maasai Mara National Reserve has joined the party!” the statement read.
Other parks on the list include the Aberdare National Park in Nyeri, Amboseli National Park in Kajiado, Lake Nakuru National Park, and the Nairobi National Park.
Kenyans can also visit Shimba Hills National Reserve in Kwale, Sibiloi National Park in North Horr, South Island National Park at Lake Turkana, Tsavo East National Park, Tsavo West National Park, and the Watamu Marine National Park.
Those looking for more options to explore and have an adventure can also go to Chyulu Hills National Park in Kibwezi, Hell’s Gate National Park in Naivasha, Kakamega Forest National Reserve, Kisumu Impala Sanctuary, Kiunga Marine National Reserve in Lamu, Kora National Park in Meru, and Malka Mari National Park in Mandera.
In Nakuru County, tourists can visit the Lake Elementaita Wildlife Sanctuary and Lake Nakuru National Park to promote tourism in the country.
Other National Parks on the List
Other parks around the country for Kenyans to consider visiting include the Mount Kenya National Park, Mount Longonot National Park, Mwea National Reserve, Oldonyo Sabuk National Park, Ruma National Park, Shimba Hills National Reserve, and Watamu Marine National Park.
There is also an option of touring the Malindi Marine National Park and Reserve, Malka Mari National Park, Marsabit National Park, Meru National Park, Mombasa Marine National Park & Reserve, Ndere Island National Park, and Mount Elgon National Park.

Countries across the globe marked the World Tourism Week this year from September 22 to September 29.
On September 18, the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife Rebecca Miano announced free entry into all parks for September 28.

In a statement, Miano urged Kenyans to take advantage of the free entry saying to support tourism in the country.
“In our bid to promote and encourage local tourism, a momentous opportunity is here! Mark the date,” she announced.
