Kenyan Woman, Margret Njeri Munai from Kilimambogo, Thika in Kiambu County, has been reported missing in Iraq, raising concerns over her whereabouts and situation.
According to the Kenyan diaspora media reports, Margret Njeri has been reported missing in Iraq after allegedly attempting to leave an abusive employer in Mosul, Iraq.
“Margret Njeri Munai from Kilimambogo, Thika in Kiambu County, has reportedly gone missing in Iraq after allegedly escaping from an abusive employer in Mosul,” the media reported.
Margret Njeri Munai Reported Missing in Iraq Amid Employment Concerns
A close friend of Njeri, speaking to the media, said Margret Njeri Munai traveled to Iraq with another Kenyan through Al Adwaa Agency, also known as Sheila Agency, in search of employment opportunities.
Further, the reports indicate that they later encountered harsh working conditions after arrival.
The friend further stated that Munai attempted to flee the situation with assistance from fellow Kenyans in Iraq.
Margret Njeri was reportedly left at a police checkpoint between Mosul and the Kurdistan border after complications arose regarding transport arrangements.

She is reported to have gone missing in Iraq following these developments linked to her attempt to leave her employer in Mosul.
Njeri Munai Reportedly Detained in Iraq After Expired Visa Discovery
The media reports revealed that Margret Njeri was allegedly detained by Iraqi police after officers found that she did not have a valid iqama and that her visa had expired.
According to reports, her last known communication was from a police station in Mosul, where she was undergoing fingerprint processing before her phone went off.
“Margret was allegedly detained by Iraqi police after officers discovered she did not have a valid iqama and that her visa had expired. The last communication received from her was while she was at a police station in Mosul, undergoing fingerprint processing before her phone went off,” the reports read.
Her employer later reportedly claimed that she had been jailed in a women’s prison in Iraq over allegations of theft and escaping from her employer’s residence.

Kenyan Family Appeals for Help to Bring Home Son Stranded on Dubai Streets
In a similar report of Kenyans facing tough times abroad, a family from Chumani in Kilifi County has appealed for assistance to help bring back their son, Patrick Mwandonga, who is reportedly stranded in Dubai and living on the streets after falling ill while working abroad.
According to the family, Patrick traveled to Dubai last year through a recruitment agent in search of employment opportunities and to support his family. However, his situation has since deteriorated after he became unwell.
A friend who reportedly traveled with him through the same agent said his condition worsened while abroad, leaving him vulnerable and without stable support or shelter.
The family has expressed distress over his situation and is calling on the Kenyan government, well-wishers, and relevant authorities to intervene and facilitate his safe return to Kenya.
