Motorists in Nairobi have been cautioned of expected traffic disruption along several roads, including Lang’ata Road and Southern Bypass, over the weekend.
In a traffic advisory on Friday, March 14, 2025, the Bible Translation and Literacy (BTL) cautioned motorists ahead of the Run for the Bibleless event.
The run scheduled for Saturday will result in significant traffic disruptions along Lang’ata Road which shall be partially closed on one side at the section between Carnivore Grounds to Madaraka Roundabout from 7:30 a.m.
Traffic will also be affected on Mai Mahiu Road, Muhoho Avenue, and Ole Shapara Avenue.
Motorists who wish to access Langata Road from Mombasa Road have been requested to use the Southern bypass, using the exit at the Ole Sereni Hotel.
“This run will also be held simultaneously in Nakuru and Eldoret towns,” added BTL.
Lang’ata Road among affected roads
At the same time, the Gertrudes Hospital Foundation has cautioned motorists ahead of the Gertrudes Family Cancer Walk, which is held annually.

The walk, which is scheduled for Sunday, March 16, will result in significant traffic disruptions along the Southern Bypass, Mbagathi Way, Lang’ata Road and four other roads from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
“We wish to notify the general public of traffic disruptions along Southern Bypass, Langata Rd, Aerodome Rd, Bunyala Rd, Hospital Rd, Upper Hill Links Rd, and Mbagathi Way on Sunday, 16th March 2025, from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM due to the Annual Gertrude’s Family Cancer Walk,” the notice reads.
“Motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Traffic police will be on-site to ensure smooth flow.
The traffic dirsuption along Lang’ata Road this weekend comes weeks after another disruption witnessed in the first weekend of March.
The Madfun Xperience music concert headlined by Nigerian music powerhouse Burna Boy took place on March 1 at the Uhuru Gardens resulting to a significant disruption along the busy road.
KeNHA Announces Temporary Closure of Mombasa-Mtwapa-Kilifi Road
Meanwhile, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) had earlier in the week announced the planned temporary closure of the Mombasa-Mtwapa-Kilifi Road to facilitate the completion of the new Mbogolo Bridge.

The authority in a notice on Tuesday said that the temporary closure will kick off on Tuesday, March 18, and run to Tuesday, April 1.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public that the Mombasa Mtwapa-Kilifi Road at the New Mbogolo Bridge will be closed to enable the completion of the bridge. The closure will commence on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025, at midnight and end on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, at midnight,” part of the notice read.
Motorists were further advised that their vehicles will be redirected to the old Mbogolo Bridge route until the project’s completion to avoid getting caught up in traffic.
KeNHA also urged motorists to adhere to the directive and cooperate with the police and traffic officers who will be deployed at the site to streamline the exercise.
