Prime Cabinet Secretary (CS) Musalia Mudavadi has scrapped off a communications agreement made by Tourism Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua while he still headed the foreign affairs docket.
The agreement was between Kenya and several international organizations and countries.
Mudavadi made the announcement on Monday, November 6, while hosting a diplomatic luncheon for heads of foreign missions in Kenya.
Further, the Prime CS explained to the dignitaries that the decision that had earlier been made to allow foreign missions in Kenya to communicate directly with various ministries, state departments and agencies had been scrapped.
Further, he noted that the decision would enhance strategic communication between Kenya and other partners.
Also, he explained that the decision was made under the guidance and leadership of President William Ruto to protect Kenya’s strategic interests.
“The government has reviewed the decision that previously allowed diplomatic and consular missions, UN agencies and other international organizations to directly contact government ministries departments and agencies.
“Going forth, all correspondence with the government shall be transmitted through the office of the chief of protocol, state department of foreign affairs,” stated Mudavadi.

Mufavadi Explains Reason and Consequence of the Move
At the same time, the prime CS noted that the decision was a better approach for some of the issues Kenya was discussing with other partner states.
“We believe that this review will allow for a more coherent approach for issues of mutual concern, and we seek your kind cooperation in this matter,” he added.
Furthermore, he indicated that the foreign affairs ministry would also make changes in the systems it was using to get rid of any issues that may have been there while relating with other nations.
He reiterated that the move would ensure a more engaging relationship with other international entities.
“We will also refine the internal systems in the ministry so that those hiccups that you may have experienced shall be dealt with and will have a more robust engagement.

Additionally, a handover ceremony took place at the Kenya Railways headquarters, Nairobi on Tuesday, October 17, allowing Mudavadi to officially take over tools of trade from Alfred Mutua.
