National Agency for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA) has warned the public against a fake job advert that has been making rounds across various social media platforms.
In a statement on November 21, NACADA said it was not recruiting and further called on job seekers to ignore the fake advert.
“We wish to inform members of the public that the announcement is FAKE and should thus be dismissed with contempt,” the statement read.
Additionally, the agency cautioned members of the public against falling prey to fraudsters posing as NACADA officials and asking for money.
“Unsuspecting members of public are further cautioned against falling prey to crooked individuals posing as employees of NACADA soliciting money from them in the name of securing them employment positions,” NACADA noted.
Caution Against Paying for Jobs
The Authority does not charge for any application and neither does it engage individuals to conduct hiring of staff on its behalf,” the institution noted.

Also, to enhance transparency and easier tracking of job opportunities the authority asked job seekers to keep track of adverts through their official social media platforms as well as their website.
“We advise the public to constantly confirm the validity of advertisements bearing the NACADA brand through our multiple official platforms such as the website (www.nacada.go.ke) and social media pages; Twitter (@NACADAKenya), Facebook (Nacada Kenya) and Instagram,” the Authority noted.

Furthermore, NACADA added that it always advertises all its vacancies through the My GOV pullout or newspapers of nationwide circulation.
Other Cases of Fake Job Adverts
However, there have been several other cases of scammers making fake job advertisements to rob unsuspecting Kenyans off their hard-earned money.

On October 4, Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) cautioned against swindlers posing as NCWSC.
In a notice, the company said it was aware of people inviting the public to apply for jobs through a fake email address.
“It has come to the attention of NCWSC that unscrupulous individuals have invited the public to apply for vacancies in the company through an email nairobicitywaterandsewrage047@gmail.com,” read the notice.
NCWSC further clarified that it had advertised positions in Technical and legal Directorates earlier in December 2021 and the advertised positions were already filled.
“NCWSC would like to inform the general public that vacancies in technical and Legal Directorates were advertised in December 2021 and the positions are already filled,” read the notice in part.
