Severe traffic has disrupted movement along the Naivasha–Nakuru highway, leaving travelers stranded for hours and causing major delays for motorists heading in both directions.
According to reports, congestion began at around 3 AM on Sunday, leaving motorists in long queues.
In a spot check by The Kenya Times, Public service vehicles, private cars, and freight trucks have stalled at Kinale, creating congestion on the way.
Travelers Stranded at Kinale for Hours
According to reports, road construction along the Nakuru Naivasha highway has caused soil to spill on the highway, as heavy goods trucks have been struck, causing the traffic congestion.
At Kinale, travelers have reportedly been stuck since around 3 am with no progress for hours, causing long stretches along the Naivasha – Nakuru Highway.

Motorists have also overlapped the lanes, causing more disruption as no movement can occur.
The situation has left passengers frustrated, with some vehicles immobilized in long queues stretching several kilometers.
The Long Distance Drivers and Conductors Association has reported that movement has been completely halted in some sections, forcing travelers to wait for extended periods.
Alternative Routes Recommended Amid Ongoing Delays
Motorists intending to use the Naivasha–Kimende stretch have been urged to use an alternative route and avoid the worsening congestion.
Suggested diversions include using Ngong–Suswa route and the Maai Mahiu corridor.

However, concerns have also been raised that the Maai Mahiu route could become congested if traffic pressure continues to build, especially with more vehicles diverting from the main highway.
Road users have been urged to check real-time traffic updates before embarking on their journeys to avoid further delays.
Motorists have also been encouraged to exercise patience and observe proper lane discipline to help ease the situation. Overlapping and indiscipline along the highway have been identified as key contributing factors to the gridlock, worsening the already stalled traffic.
