East African Breweries Limited (EABL) has announced the resignation of John Musunga as a Director of the company
In a statement, the company’s board said that Musunga resigned effectively on March 18, 2025.

“The Board of Directors of East African Breweries PLC hereby announces the resignation of Mr. John Musunga as a Director of the Company with effect from 18th March 2025. John has served as a Director since July 2023 .
The Board thanked Musunga for the time he served at the company.

The Board wishes John the very best for the future,” read the notice.
John Musunga Resigns as EABL Director
Before joining Diageo in March 2021 as Managing Director of Kenya Breweries Limited, Musunga held a number of senior management positions at GlaxoSmithkline, both globally and regionally.

He has held positions in South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, and Belgium.
John is a well-known company leader with more than 29 years of extensive strategic, managerial, and business experience.

John has also chaired the Kenya Association of Pharmaceutical Industries, served on the board of Kenya Vision 2030, and chaired the Kenya HIV/AIDS Business Council.
Musunga holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Nairobi and master’s degree in business administration from United States International University (USIU)- Africa.
At the same time, EABL announced the appointment of Lorna Benton as a Non-Executive Director, effective March 18, 2025.
Lorna is the Group Performance and Reward Director at Diageo PLC, a position she has held since April 2023.

She has previously led Global Reward for WPP PLC and Compass Group PLC, holding senior executive positions.
In addition, Ms. Benton serves as an Independent Member of the Remuneration Committee of the Rugby Football Union.
Lorna is a seasoned Financial Times Stock Exchange (FTSE) 10 Global Reward Director with experience in employee relations, performance management, diversity and inclusion, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

According to the board, she has effectively managed matrix-structured high-performing teams using her results-oriented leadership to build solid alliances across cultural and diverse industries.
Further, the EABL Board in the notice stated that Lorna’s announcement as the non-executive director has been issued with the approval of the Capital Markets Authority pursuant to the Capital Markets (Securities) (Public Offers, Listing, and Disclosures) Regulations, 2023.
