CCTV footage has revealed how a househelp aided a robber to steal from her boss within Nairobi’s Eastleigh Estate, further thrusting the area into the limelight.
In the incident which occurred on Friday, November 1, 2024, around 4:40 PM, an individual armed with a hammer managed to enter Ushirika Tower in Eastleigh.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that after the assailant gained entry, he proceeded to an apartment on the sixth floor with the assistance of a house help named Everlyne, a Ugandan national.
“Upon entering, the assailant, reportedly a Ugandan national, grievously assaulted a 20-year-old Somali house help named Hakimo Muhidin with assistance from Evelyne,” the DCI statement on the socials read in part.
During the violent encounter, several valuable items were pilfered, including pieces of gold jewellery, an unspecified amount of cash in both Kenyan currency and U.S. dollars, as well as four laptops belonging to the family, which were reported stolen during the incident.
Hakimo Muhidin sustained serious injuries, including a broken tooth and injuries to her hand, head, and legs. Additionally, she exhibited signs of having been whipped, with visible marks on her back.

Eastleigh Family Robbery
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has reported that Hakimo Muhidin, who was assaulted during the incident received medical treatment, and is discharged. She is currently recovering at a relative’s home in the Tassia estate area.
However, Evelyne, who had joined the household three weeks before the incident, managed to escape alongside the assailant.
At the time of the incident, the tenant, a Somali man, was not at home; he was out with his children, while his wife was reported to be in India for medical treatment.

Authorities are continuing their investigations to gather more details regarding the incident and the whereabouts of the suspects.
As such, the concerned authorities are requesting the residents who might have seen or heard anything on the issue to reach out.

On September 24, 2024, a 20-year-old woman was arraigned before Murang’a court for allegedly stealing goods worth Ksh100,000 from her employer.
The househelp, identified as Rose Gathoni, was accused of stealing various items belonging to her employer. The alleged theft occurred between May 26 and July 26, 2024.
The reported stolen items included clothes, shoes, handbags, and other assorted items. She was released on Ksh 50,000 bail after denying the charges.
