The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has shortlisted 476 candidates for civilian vacancies which the Ministry of Defence (MOD) advertised in May 2023.
In a statement on March 15, 2024, the Ministry of Defence noted that it published the names following a successful shortlisting of the candidates who applied for the jobs.
“The Ministry of Defence notifies the public that the process of shortlisting candidates for various vacancies (civilian staff) which were advertised on 1st May 2023 is complete,” read part of the statement.
According to the Ministry, the shortlisted candidates are invited for interviews on the dates and time indicated against their names in the list.
The interviews shall be conducted at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Ulinzi House, Lenana Road, Nairobi.
In addition, Candidates are required to carry along their original academic and professional certificates, national identity card and testimonials.

MOD also urged the candidates to ensure that the required certificates and other attachments are returned to them before leaving the interviews.
How to check
To check the list, candidates were advised to access it through the Ministry of Defence Website>MOD News>Shortlisted Candidates for Advertised Vacancies (Civilian Staff).
The applicants were also advised to use an attached telephone number for any inquiries.
At the same time, candidates were issued with a cautionary message, with the Ministry warning them against giving money to anybody purporting to be in a position to help whatsoever.

“Avoid being conned. Any corruption report should be made via email: publicaffairs@mod.go.ke,” the statement added.
KDF Civilian jobs
The jobs advertised by the Kenya Defence Forces for civilian staff included those of Drivers, and different categories of Artisans (Panel Beaters, Spray Painters, Welders, Tailors, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, and Motor Vehicle Electricians).
This shortlisting comes days after President William Ruto made changes in the KDF leadership making new appointments and promotions.
In the changes, Major General Charles Muriu Kahariri was appointed as the new Vice Chief of the Defence Forces and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General.
Also, Ruto appointed Major General David Kimaiyo Tarus as the Kenya Army Commander, promoting him to the rank of Lieutenant General.
