ODM Clarifies Asking DCI to Investigate Raila’s Assassination Claims

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has clarified reports that it wrote a letter to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate reports that there was an assassination plot against former prime minister Raila Odinga.

In a statement on January 26, ODM Chairperson Gladys Wanga said the letter going round on social media is fake.

“This is fake. Beware of disinformation,” Wanga said.

The fake letter claims that ODM asked DCI to summon Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi to clarify allegations he made in a video post on his official social media account on January 20, 2025.

How Raila Assassination Claims Started

The claims started after Sudi posted a video on his X page.

In the video, Sudi claimed that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was planning something dangerous during the opposition protests led by Raila.

Sudi alleged that the plan which could have ended the country was being hatched at Serena Hotel.

However, he mentioned that they were the people who stopped Gachagua from implementing his plan.

“You know what you wanted to do during the opposition protest. If we were not clever and stopped, you would not have a country right now. You know what you were pushing for in Serena,” Sudi said.

Uhuru & Matiang’i Were Targeted

Additionally, Sudi accused Gachagua of targeting former President Uhuru Kenyatta, former Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang’i and their families.

“My brothers from the Mountain, I want to tell you that this man is a big liar. If we had allowed him, he would have done much worse. He wanted to hurt the Uhuru family, the Matiang’i family, and all the PSs who were giving us trouble,” Sudi claimed.

He alleged that Gachagua had a cruel agenda, but President William Ruto did not want to repay evil with more evil.

Sudi claimed that it was Gachagua who planned the invasion of the Kenyatta family’s Northlands farm and sent goons to Uhuru’s eldest son Jomo Kenyatta’s residence in Karen in 2023.

“Who planned the theft of Uhuru’s sheep? Who sent goons to Uhuru’s son’s gate? You planned all those incidents yet today you are speaking as if you are a clean man. You are a big liar and you know what you did in the short time you were in office,” Sudi stated.

Sudi stated that Gachagua should stay at home because is very dangerous.
