Abdisanalan was nominated as the PS for the State Department for National Government Coordination at the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary on March 20.
The party announced that Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi will replace him as Organizing Secretary.

“In addition, the party has received the resignation of Hon. Abdisalan as our Organizing Secretary following his nomination for the position of PS,” the statement read in part.
“We offer him our best wishes in his new role. In the meantime, the Committee has proposed Governor Ahmed Abdullahi Jiir to take his place.”

The vetting of the nominees is set to begin on Friday, April 4, and will run through Monday, April 7, 2025.
Among the first nominees to face MPs on April 4 at 10:00 AM is Ahmed Abdisalan, who will appear before the Committee on Administration and Internal Security.
Political and community leaders from Wajir have pledged their full support for the broad-based government, expressing gratitude to President William Ruto and his political partner, Raila Odinga, for nominating Abdisalan as PS.
Speaking in Nairobi on Sunday, March 23, the leaders emphasized that the current relationship between the government and the people of North Eastern is crucial and could lead to more nominations ahead of the 2027 elections.
“We believe he has what it takes to deliver, and we are confident he will not let down the President and the Right Honorable Raila Odinga. We pray that the broad-based government will tackle the challenges facing Kenyans,” they stated. Abdisalan served as a one-term Mp from 2017 to 2022.

Ibrahim Ahmed Abdisalan Professional Career and Education
Abdisalan served as a one-term Wajir North MP from 2017 to 2022. In Parliament, he served as the Vice Chairperson of the Public Investments Committee and was also a member of the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works, and Housing.
Prior to that, he worked at the Kenya Red Cross Society since 2010, where he rose through the ranks from Branch Coordinator to County Manager and later Regional Manager.
Between 2007 and 2010, he served as a District Librarian at the Kenya National Library Service.
Abdisalan holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Kenya Methodist University. He also studied at the Technical University of Kenya between 2002 and 2004, where he earned a Diploma in Library Science and Information.
His earlier education includes Bute Secondary School, where he completed his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) between 1993 and 1997.
He began his academic journey at Ajawa Primary School, where he earned his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) from 1986 to 1993.
