The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has announced the passing of one of its officials. In a statement dated April 1, ODM Deputy Party Leader Abdulswamad Sharrif Nassir shared the news of the death of Ahmed Maamun Ali, the Chairman of Magharini.
“I have received the devastating news of the passing of my dear friend and comrade, Ahmed Maamun Ali, fondly known to many as Akaku, with deep shock and profound sorrow,” Abdulswamad stated.

He praised Maamun Ali as a dedicated member of the party.
“Akaku was not only a steadfast and passionate leader within our party but also a true patriot who diligently served as the ODM Chairman for Magharini. His commitment to the ideals of justice, equity, and grassroots empowerment was unmatched, and his absence will be deeply felt by all of us who had the honor of working alongside him,” Abdulswamad expressed.

Additionally, the ODM Deputy Party Leader extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and the entire Mambrui community and Magharini at large, wishing them strength in the cherished memories and the enduring legacy Maamun leaves behind.

Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro also expressed his condolences, saying, “I am profoundly saddened and at a loss for words upon learning this unexpected news.
The loss of my dear friend Ahmed Maamun Ali (Akaku) is deeply felt, and he will be greatly missed. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and all those who knew him. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.”
Kilifi Governor Mourns Magharini Chairman
Ibrahim Athman, the Majority Leader at the Kilifi County Assembly, remembered the Magharini Chairman as a hardworking individual who loved interacting with people.
“I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my dear friend, Ahmed Maamun Ali (Akaku). He was a strong pillar of ODM, hardworking, united, and had a great affection for politics and our community. May the Almighty God receive him with His mercy, and we remain in prayer for his bereaved family to find patience and endurance during this difficult time.”

Ahmed Maamun Ali’s passing comes months after the loss of the ODM’s Alego-Usonga Branch Chairman, Mzee John Orwenjo Umidho, who passed away after an illness on September 12 2024.
