Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, interim party leader Professor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o has lashed out at Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka for stating that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga betrayed the Azimio coalition for signing a political cooperation with President Wiliam Ruto.
In a statement dated Sunday March 3, the Kisumu Governor defended Odinga’s decision, stating that the Wiper Party leader also partnered with the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua without consulting them.

“I have read the comments of Wiper leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, regarding the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that ODM and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) signed in Nairobi on Friday.
Kalonzo’s discontent is that Azimio was left out. In that regard, therefore, Raila betrayed Azimio.

ODM Responds to Kalonzo
In the meantime, the same Kalonzo has been meeting with all kinds of characters, including Rigathi Gachagua, without consulting us at all,” read part of the statement.
According to Nyong’o, ODM never complained when Kalonzo started working with the former Deputy President because it was his democratic right to do so.

“Whether or not he has signed some agreement with them is none of our business,” the Kisumu Governor added.

Further, Kisumu Governor stated that Kalonzo should familiarizing himself with the contents of the MOU signed between Odinga and President Ruto before making harsh judgement of the cooperation between Odinga and President Ruto.
“The MOU commits the partners to build a much stronger democratic political culture in which all parties and movements, notwithstanding their “base of support”, will build the Kenyan nation together, “read the statement.
Kalonzo Accuses Raila of Betrayal
Additionally, Nyong’o noted that there is still room for Musyoka to seek dialogue with President Ruto and former Prime Minister Odinga to work towards the nation’s future.
Kisumu Governor’s statement comes days after the Wiper Party Boss criticized the cooperation between the head of state and the former Prime Minister.

Kalonzo described the deal as “betrayal to Kenyans” and stressed that the opposition alliance will not back down from its commitment to the people.
The ten-point agenda of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was signed on Friday, March 7 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), aims to promote inclusivity and address important national issues.
But according to Kalonzo and other opposition figures, it is not in Kenyans’ best interests.
